About Children's Mental Health

Mental health is a significant topic in today’s society. It has particular relevance when it comes to children because there are a number of developmental differences between adults and kids. Up to age 25 even, the brain is still maturing and developing. Therefore, the needs of children and adolescents are different than those of grown-ups. Children’s mental health conditions may affect them in different ways than adults with the  same condition experience. Some disorders are seen more frequently in young people. Some of the more common diagnoses in children and adolescents overall include:

This event is sponsored by The National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health (NFFCMH). Specifically, it’s usually held the second week in May. Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 will be recognized from May 5 – 11, 2019. Its purpose is to promote a national conversation about children’s mental health in order to raise awareness and put an end to prejudice and discrimination. The NFFCMH offers a variety of activities and suggestions for communities, professionals, and families who want to hold events in their own neighborhoods and venues.
